Abstract :
It is the view of the author that unless the chief executive takes on the responsibility for training, recognises that training is a vital part of his economic armoury, realises that only in the boardroom can the real emphasis on such investment be made, then the investment in the new technologies and related philosophies will be largely wasted. The paper highlights a series of seminars organised by the author and bringing together from both industry and the providers and show that it is possible to develop a very useful partnership between the two. It also considers the future role of continuing education in the light of these and other developments in industry
