Abstract
Nano γ-Fe2O3 was easily synthesized by sonochemical route with the variation of the influencing factors like sonication time and purging of N2 gas. The synthesized powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron micrograph (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The synthesized powder was coated over an electroded alumina tube followed by sensor fabrication and the response of the fabricated sensors towards acetone and alcohol were measured. High sensitivity of γ-Fe2O3 based sensor towards sub PPM of acetone was observed for which γ-Fe2O3 can be claimed as a possible material for the non invasively detection of diabetics.
