Abstract :
Presents a simple scheme of fixed size image block partitioning that offers a solution to the two limitations, for little overhead in complexity and compression efficiency. The scheme can be extremely useful in systems where parallel processing is a necessary requirement for the achievement of the required processing throughput and in future systems that compressed images will reside in memory or storage media, and only part of them will be requested at a time, such as a display window system, or multi-media applications
