Abstract :
The subband coding with diamond-shaped passband filters and quincunx subsampling requires nonseparable filters. The contribution presents a new type of filter bank with a cascade structure. It gives a perfect reconstruction just like the other filter banks with a cascade structure presented in Vetterli, et al. (1990). On top of that, the filter bank is symmetrical with respect to the main axes (axis fx=0 and axis fy=0) and to the main diagonal axes (fx=±fy), which is not the case for the filter types presented in Vetterli et al. (1990)
