Diamond-shaped passband filters with a cascade structure for subband coding

The subband coding with diamond-shaped passband filters and quincunx subsampling requires nonseparable filters. The contribution presents a new type of filter bank with a cascade structure. It gives a perfect reconstruction just like the other filter banks with a cascade structure presented in Vetterli, et al. (1990). On top of that, the filter bank is symmetrical with respect to the main axes (axis f_x=0 and axis f_y=0) and to the main diagonal axes (f_x=±f_y), which is not the case for the filter types presented in Vetterli et al. (1990)
