Abstract
The authors propose a knowledge-based approach for map-drawing interpretation. They work directly with a raster image representation and do not generate an intermediate vector model for the whole image. For the interpretation of objects on the map the system uses knowledge about the map, which is extracted and described. The structure of the knowledge base for map interpretation is suggested and described. A process for the map-drawing interpretation by this technique is suggested and the main operations in this process are described. The results of processing are given
