Abstract
The radiographic examination of wooden polychromatic sculptures is important in order to know the technology of construction of these objects. Information on the internal structure, localization of joints and the number of blocks used to build the sculpture can be obtained. This contribution is part of a long term work in the area of conservation/restoration of art works of the colonial period in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The authors report the use of a digital image processing system to study the work of Antonio Francisco Lisboa, well known as `Aleijadinho´, the most important sculptor from the colonial period (XVII Century) in Minas Gerais
