  • Abstract
Grid technologies enable large-scale sharing of resources within formal or informal consortia of individuals and/or institutions. Information services are a vital part of any grid software infrastructure, providing fundamental mechanisms for discovery and monitoring, and thus for planning and adapting application behavior. Grid information services are an indispensable component of grid computing and vital part of any grid software infrastructure, providing fundamental mechanisms for discovery and monitoring, and thus for planning and adapting application behavior. However, existing grid information services are unable to provide the all information for monitoring grid resources. Accordingly, this paper presents an integrated grid information system to enable the efficient discovery and monitoring of all grid resources. Thereafter, an integrated grid information system is designed and implemented based on the integrated model using existing information systems, and is able to monitor basic information on each node, the network state, computing state of a cluster, number of nodes and queue state, and more using a Globus toolkit, NWS (network weather services), condor, and LSF (load sharing facility). As such, the proposed integrated grid information system can facilitate the discovery and monitoring of grid resources
