Abstract
Economy and security functions are usually not sufficiently integrated in energy control centers. After a brief analysis of the state of the art, the authors describe a project developed now in France in order to go towards an economic, secure and even automatic integrated operation of power systems. Then, from this base case study, the use of basic tools for integrated operation is discussed: mainly security constrained optimal power flows and corrective switching for network problems, but also daily power scheduling with transmission security constraints, closed loop secure automatic generation control and other factors such as new hardware possibilities
