Abstract :
Each region of the electromagnetic spectrum has unique applications as measurement/diagnostic tools. We compare, in this paper, the millimeter wave (mm-wave) region with the THz region mainly in terms of spectroscopy and imaging using actual examples. The THz region provides more capability in spectroscopy, and in imaging technologies through materials the mm- wave region has advantage. Practical devices such as room temperature low-noise-amplifiers (LNAs), detectors, etc. are available in the mm-wave region.
