Abstract :
We initiate a formal study of correlation between protein structural similarity and similarity of protein rigidity properties. In this paper we combine algorithmic techniques from protein sequence alignment and protein rigidity analysis and derive a new algorithm for protein sequence alignment, ultimately aiming at improving accuracy of protein homology detection and structure prediction, and also reducing the running time of currently known methods.
