Abstract :
A statistically and computationally efficient algorithm, which was referred to as DS-WRELAX, was proposed for the delay and Doppler scale estimation of multiple closely spaced moving targets. The performance of DS-WRELAX was further investigated in this paper. Comparison with another similarly structured algorithm FML (fast maximum likelihood) due to D.W. Tufts (1993) shows that DS-WRELAX can significantly outperform FML. We also explain why the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) threshold for the phase estimates is much higher than that of other unknown parameters and point out that this phenomenon is algorithm-independent
