  • Abstract
    An advanced maintenance information system for overhead power transmission lines has been developed and introduced into actual transmission lines. The system provides various useful information for transmission line maintenance work, such as fault sections if a fault occurs, meteorological conditions and power conductor temperature etc. In addition to the basic maintenance information, the system has communication capability for huge volumes of data such as ITV picture images, telephone voices and computer databases between a local tower site and a maintenance office through an OPGW (composite fiber-optic overhead ground wire) network
