Abstract :
An analytical investigation of PSAM (pilot symbol assisted modulation) 16 QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) is presented. Closed-form expressions for the optimized receiver coefficients, and a tight upper bound for the resulting symbol error rate in PSAM 16 QAM are given. The performance is within 2.4 dB of that of a perfect reference system when the Doppler spread is 5% of the symbol rate. At 1% Doppler, the loss is only 1 dB, and it can be further reduced at lower Doppler values
