Agreeing worldwide standards for enhanced television

The paper outlines the reasons for seeking common standards for enhanced television systems, and explains some basic design issues for such systems. The CCIR´s conclusions on potentially common system elements, between standards, are given. The current situation in the 525 and 625 parts of the world, in developing systems, is outlined; and the key issue of conversion format acceptability is considered in more detail.
