Abstract :
Describes a small-sized, lightweight portable SNG (satellite news gathering) unit. The factors taken into consideration in the development of digital SNG equipment include: a compression method for the digital video signal and picture quality, a digital modulation method in view of the nonlinearity of the transmission system, the transmission EIRP and C/N and bit error rate, an error-correcting method for high performance, and interference due to the antenna side-lobe characteristics with other satellites
