Abstract
The paper presents a control system in an autonomous power system, where wind turbines and diesel generation units are connected to the network via power electronic interfaces. The operation condition variations, such as switching load, could cause significant transient and dynamics in an autonomous system. This paper investigates the control system performance, in particular the system behavior during dynamic periods. The control systems, in particular the diesel unit control, are presented. The simulation results have demonstrated that the power electronic converters can be used to effectively minimize the voltage fluctuations and system transient.
