Abstract :
Three-dimensional Hi-Vision was developed as an experimental stereoscopic television system with Hi-Vision facilities. The study of this system has been made so that the broadcasting services which can be offered in the future will be of a highly evolved or even ultimate nature. Moreover this system is expected to have applications not only in the medium-sized theaters in the near future but also to aid in medical operations where higher definition images and depth information are indispensable. The authors discuss some of the techniques for producing stereoscopic effects as well as the resulting improvements in visual and psychological effect over ordinary two-dimensional pictures which this provides
