Abstract :
The author describes the status of the work that the European PALplus consortium has reached since 1989. This consortium consists of broadcasters from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK as well as many of the major European consumer electronics industry, namely the Grundig group, Nokia, Philips and Thomson. The author gives a brief description of the characteristics and advantages of the PALplus system and briefly details the work so far carried out by the consortium together with proposed work for the future
