Abstract
This paper addresses the problem of designing state and output feedback controllers for linear continuous-time time-invariant systems and at the same time locating actuators and sensors. For output feedback problems, solutions with independent and collocated placement are provided. The results are based on necessary and sufficient conditions and in most cases globally optimal solutions are attained by solving mixed Boolean semi-definite programs
