  • Abstract
    After two years of cooperation the PALplus project has decided on the PALplus system architecture. In these two years, aspects of format conversion, improved Y/C separation, backwards compatible transmission, sound improvements, and echo cancellation techniques have been studied in various European laboratories. Two series of subjective tests have been carried out in order to find the best performing algorithm from the various proposals. The paper outlines the architecture of the system and introduces the techniques used in the various stages of the video signal processing
