Abstract
The digital signal processing (DSP) workstation described is intended to play the role of an intelligent data acquisition system offering dedicated statistical processing and diagnostic interpretation of captured data. The hardware heart of the system is the TMS320C30 DSP chip (Texas Instruments Ltd). This 33-MFLOPS floating point engine is incorporated in a TMS320C30 PC plug-in board from Loughborough Sound Images Ltd., Loughborough, UK (LSI). The hardware structure of the workstation is discussed and the development of C language based software for the instrument is presented
