Abstract :
VIDC20 is a fully integrated, low cost, low power solution to computer graphics. The chip takes data from the frame buffer of a host processor, and produces the analogue signals suitable for directly driving a monitor. The chip contains a DRAM/VRAM memory interface, serialisation into 1/2/4/8/16 or 32 bits per pixel, a large colour palette, and 3 colour DACs with 8 bit resolution. A standard 1 μm, 2-layer metal process has been used in fabrication. This, combined with the small die size of less than 7×8 mm, means that the chip´s cost is low
