Abstract :
The strong tendency of declining birthrate and aging population in Japan will cause the decrease of productive-age population over time. On the other hand, elderly people having willingness to contribute to the society have been increasing. It is proposed, under such a condition, that we should utilize senior researchers and engineers, who retired from universities or companies and have specialized knowledge and experiences, for the maintenance and development of the industry. This paper introduces a case of utilizing seniors as a service system in real society. More specifically, the paper treats the IEEJ professional system, which is operated by Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan, as a system of utilizing senior researchers and engineers. This system is a service system that provides the knowledge of seniors to clients as value, as well as provides the opportunities to work to seniors. The paper considers the service value of this system by investigation and analysis of this system. Especially the point that has added the customer value in the service which utilizes the knowledge which a senior researcher and an engineer hold taking advantage of the provider himself or the connections to hold was considered.
