Abstract
Discusses the safety advisor for the demolition industry (SADI) project, which aims to develop a prototype safety advisor computer system for demolition and dismantling operations. It will give advice on the safe methods and recommended procedures for a given demolition situation, based on knowledge gained from experts in demolition and dismantling, and from Health and Safety specialists. SADI will interact with the user through the use of menu based question and answer sessions. It will incorporate sophisticated help and explanation facilities which make use of the latest text, graphics, still picture, and video capabilities. The form of the interaction between SADI and the engineer is based upon the idea that the user of the system will be an engineer who is experienced in demolition, but lacks experience in some of its fields
