Abstract :
The author presents the design of a novel, low power actuator for use in line powered payphones, where Mars Electronics manufactures an electronic coin acceptor and diverts accepted coins to a payment system. In order to design an actuator feasible for commercial products finite element magnetic modelling software PE2D is used. The company and product backgrounds are described and the component specification is looked at. The use of magnetic modelling software is also presented
