  • Abstract
A new multiband antenna based on the traditional fractal equilateral Parany monopole is presented in this paper. Parany antennas are resonant, log-periodic and multi-band. For example, a traditional two-stage Parany fractal monopole antenna provides three bandwidths. In this paper, one of these bandwidths is increased and another additional bandwidth is achieved adding two conductor triangles to a traditional two-stage Parany monopole and eliminating two connections between the triangles that shape such antenna. The resultant two-stage fractal Parany antenna with triangular complements matches to a 50 Ohm feeding at lower frequencies than the traditional two-stage Parany antenna. Hence, for VSWR <2.1, the proposed antenna provides bandwidths from 0.51 GHz to 0.54 GHz, from 0.77 GHz to 0.8 GHz, from 1.75 GHz to 2.2 GHz and from 4 GHz to 9 GHz. The proposed antenna was simulated using an FDTD program and a good agreement between simulated and measured results was observed.
