Abstract :
Where system network stability considerations are paramount then a static excitation system is specified for the generator or generator groups in the main because the high ceiling voltage possible from the transformer-convertor combination will contribute to the transient stability of the system. New excitation equipment will need to have adequate designed capacity and a sensitive controller with improved supplementary damping included.
