Abstract
In the paper, a novel wideband printed diversity antenna for mobile phone application is presented. It consists of two symmetric back-to-back monopoles. Two matching portions for each monopole are added to cover the UMTS band. In order to improve the isolation and adjust the resonant frequency, a T-shaped and dual inverted-L-shaped ground branches are used. Based on simulated results, a prototype was constructed. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidth of the prototype is 410 MHz (1790-2200 MHz) with more than 12.5 dB isolation. In addition, the antenna can provide pattern diversity to mitigate multipath fading.
