Abstract :
As with most control equipment there is a point in the life of an AVR when it begins to deteriorate in performance and reliability. When there is a better product available the complete replacement of the equipment must be considered. However as with all commercial decisions the replacement of AVRs must be justified financially before the project can proceed. Once the decision to install a new AVR has been taken, careful control of the installation and commissioning phase of the project is required to keep the all important loss of generation time to a minimum
