Abstract
It is shown that data transmission using trellis codes with codewords equal to or very similar to the channel impulse response and its time reversed version outperform TCM-methods or methods using optimum codes for the AWGN channel concatenated with Tomlinson precoding (Tomlinson 1971; Fischer et al. 1995)
