Abstract :
A dual-mode broadband antenna specially designed to simultaneously provide low and high angle radiation patterns within a bandwidth of 5 to 30 MHz relative to a horizontal ground plane is described. This particular antenna utilizes four wire radiators in the form of an inverted conical log-spiral supported in a vertically extending fashion a predetermined distance above the horizontal ground plane. The spiral antenna is theoretically analyzed and its current integral equation is given. For purposes of computer aided design of the spiral antenna, numerical calculation is applied using Galerkin´s method. Finally, the numerical results are given and discussed.
