Abstract
A new reconstruction algorithm for two-dimensional axisymmetry inhomogeneous medium using array induction tool (AIT) measurements is presented. The algorithm, namely, the variational Born iterative method (VBIM) based on the variational principle is used for solving the electromagnetic inversion scattering problem. In each iteration of the VBIM, a numerical mode-matching method (NMM) is used to solve the logging responses of the AIT. Numerical simulation is given to demonstrate the capability of the inversion algorithm. In addition, the radial resolution of AIT is also investigated.
