Abstract :
As part of the move towards achieving a single European Market by the end of 1992, the Commission of the European Community, and in particular its Directorates General for Energy and Competition, have been increasingly insistent that the principles of the single market are applied to energy, a sector characterised to date by monopolistic practices and a market partitioned along national lines. The author looks at existing, legislation; new initiatives of the Commission; Eurelectrics position and proposals; the position of the UK supply industry; and future action
