Abstract
This case study describes the enforcement of a UK patent in the High Court against an infringer who disputes that the patent is enforceable. The patent No. 2,027,681 is for a particular type of an article found in most homes. The article protected by the patent has been on sale for some 15 years with considerable commercial success. The article alleged to infringe the patent is similar in overall concept but has many different design features. The background to the invention which resulted in the patent is described, together with the invention itself and the allegedly infringing article
