Abstract :
Automating the analysis of multidimensional medical images is extremely promising to improve diagnosis and therapy quality of tomorrow´s medical practice. This automation will require the solution of a number of challenging research problems, many of them being closely related to computer vision problems. The paper presents first the medical tasks that will benefit from automated medical image analysis. Then, it describes a selection of the associated research problems, with illustrations of recent results and advances
