New applications in mobile communication-the directory

The authors briefly review the directory service, which may be regarded as a communication-oriented information system. How to integrate the different functional elements of the directory into the mobile communication environment is discussed. A more detailed classification of the car driver user community is given, and the specific requirements of the respective classes are described. These requirements are matched against the directory´s functionality, and major technical problems are pointed out. Some necessary enhancements and modifications are proposed
