Abstract
Strong sea-surface reflection and weather changes pose great difficulties for microwave transmission, especially over long interstation distances. Through a successful construction of microwave stations which stand 80 km apart, combined with analysis of transmission mechanisms and observations of attenuation and refraction of microwaves over sea surfaces, it is demonstrated that stable and reliable transmission can be obtained without using diversity spacing. Methods of selecting the most suitable way for transmission are also discussed.
