Abstract :
The paper reports on a novel tunable antennas covering the frequency range of 30 to 512 MHz with a maximum tuning time of 32 mus. This antenna supports SINCGARS and HAVEQUICK I/II frequency-hopping within VHF/UHF AM/FM communication. The use of our patent-pending top loading fractal element (TLFE) as a radiator provides a wide multi-band capability coupled with software-defined RF tuning architecture.
