Abstract :
For the food industry the requirement to portray a positive image is exceedingly important. Customers express their attitudes through their purchasing power. A change in attitude can be manifest rapidly. For this reason most food companies adopt a positive attitude to environmental issues and pollution control. The author discusses the legislation and regulation on environmental matters relating to the food industry and then discusses costs and waste minimisation. The author briefly describes the electrical technologies involved in pollution control and effluent treatment in areas such as mixing, separating liquids and solids, treating soluble organic pollutants and gas stream treatments
