  • Abstract
The design of a system such that it does not suffer from upset and/or damage due to electromagnetic hazards (EMH), whether from external or internal sources can never be one hundred percent. As part of achieving the EMH protection by design, it should be recognised that some of the influencing features of a system are difficult to control precisely. It is impossible to investigate fully a system from an EMH performance point of view, by testing within a reasonable cost and time constraint. EMH protection performance should be considered as a reliability issue. It is essential that industry does not allow EMC/EMH performance to tarnish the reliability reputation of its products
