Abstract :
In order to provide effective personalized recommendations, the understanding of products as well as the users ´ preferences is crucial and this requires domain- specific knowledge. Recently, ontologies have been developed in various business domains with the recent maturing of the Semantic Web technologies, which can be applied for this purpose. In this paper, we present our enhanced meta-model to address this problem. To demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness, this paper present an application of the Semantic Web based technologies to a used car matching system (UCMS) in an e-marketplace as a case study. We present the ontology for modeling used cars with RDF (resource description framework) and RDF Schema, together with some sample coding and information model to demonstrate the implementation.
