Abstract
A system is described which compensates for resonant antenna detuning due to the influence of coupling to complex dielectrics such as the human body. No a priori information is required for the tuning process and the system will optimise the antenna even when wanted signals are too weak to provide the necessary carrier. This is achieved by means of a locally generated carrier operating in conjunction with a digitally controlled antenna tuning mechanism
