Abstract
Nowadays all major international development agencies and nations with the highest levels of overall development have adopted knowledge-based development (KBD) policies. In this way the new theme of "knowledge cities" (KCs), came to the front as an important topic of interest and discussion. The main purpose of the paper is to present in a coherent and comprehensive way the basic milestones of author\´s research related to KBD and, mainly, to the concept of KCs.
