Abstract
Multimedia applications require certain QoS guarantees in order to function properly. This is especially true when these applications need to run on MANeTs (mobile ad hoc networks). The movement of mobile nodes in MANeTs is not controlled rather it is random and unpredictable. Due to this dynamic topology multimedia applications cannot rely solely on traditional routing protocols to provide services for their correct working. In this paper an already existing QoS provisioning technology for wired networks: MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) has been adapted to suit this dynamic nature of MANeTs. The framework also includes a QoS signaling protocol and flexible resource allocation and adaptation mechanisms. In order to prove its efficiency the system is implemented and simulated using the OMNeT++ network simulator.
