Abstract
This paper deals with the analysis of a GTEM cell in time domain by introducing a linear time invariant (LTI) system theoretical approach. This approach accounts for the corresponding impulse responses relating the feeding port signal to any vector field quantity at arbitrary positions within the cell. The investigations are conducted for a large GTEM cell by evaluating its simulated EM field when excited by an ultra-wideband (UWB) voltage pulse. For the field magnitude in question, the impulse response in each field component is numerically calculated by means of inverse convolution. Thus, the field components are determined for arbitrary excitation signals by convolution without need for further 3D simulations of the GTEM cell. The impulse response is verified by a comparison between convoluted results and a full wave simulation.
