Abstract :
We propose an Application-Oriented service for wireless sensor networks that provides reliable transportation of large sensor data pay loads. The scheme uses data fragmentation and buffer management in order to guarantee the efficient delivery of large data units that otherwise exceed the maximum packet size in current transportation implementations. The proposed Lightweight Data Transportation Protocol provides location-aware retransmission per end- to-end connection. This scheme ensures that dropped packets are successfully retransmitted with minimal overhead through a novel buffer management techniques. This approach scales well for different network sizes or topologies. Simulation and experiment results show that our scheme provides significant improvement in network performance and throughput for data-intensive sensor applications.
