  • Abstract
The authors examine the factors which affect the capacity of a CDMA system in order to arrive at a realistic estimate of the improvement which may be achieved. The evaluation is based on simulations of the reuse interference, voice activity levels and required energy-per-bit/noise-energy ratio. A capacity exceeding twice that of half-rate GSM appears to be possible
