Abstract
An organisation may be depriving itself of a major competitive advantage if it fails to manage its information processing resources effectively. The development of information systems is a complex and costly undertaking and must not be left to chance. The authors emphasise the importance of information as a company resource and briefly outline an approach for quantifying the effectiveness of information flow and for using this technique as part of the planning phase for an information systems development methodology
