Abstract
The overall design of electrical supply systems, which adopts UPS, should be developed with more accuracy than conventional systems, including quality requirements. Thereby, transient conditions in electrical power supply must be carefully investigated, to find out the most severe operating conditions that may stress the UPS components, thus increasing the probability of supply failure. This analysis has a strong strategic importance in preventing dangerous situations and it is necessary in order to correctly size all the protection devices comprised on critical electrical systems.
