  • Abstract
Considerations of reactor safety have played a substantial role in the development of the design of the Sizewell B power station from the outset of the project. The author describes the process by which the safety requirements for the electrical and control systems have been derived and specified. The author also describes some of the studies which have been performed to confirm that the final design of the electrical and control systems satisfies the fundamental safety requirements. The discussion in this paper concentrates on the influence of the electrical systems. Control systems are considered in as much as they are required for operation of safety related plant. The automatic control systems which control the overall power generation process are outside the scope of this paper
